English Word Fun is a vocabulary practice app that aims to increase vocabulary knowledge for beginner and early intermediate proficient English language learners.
English Word Fun includes three games. Bingo measures learners' accuracy skills. Word Race and Bubble Pop are timed games that measure learners' fluency skills.
This app includes over 250 vocabulary words comprising of animals, body parts, classroom furniture, clothing, family, feelings, food, house, school supplies, transportation, and verbs. English Word Fun is one of the only English as a second language (ESL) apps created by a former ESL teacher!
Throughout English Word Fun, directions are both spoken and displayed in simple sentences making this app easy to use and understand. All displayed words are at a kindergarten to first grade reading level. In addition, authentic language is used throughout the app helping to develop learners’ language skills. Colorful, child friendly images as well as animations make English Word Fun fun to play!
Users are able to customize each game by choosing vocabulary words to be played, therefore, tailoring each game to learners' needs and allowing users to reuse English Word Fun multiple times!
English language learners are able to increase their vocabulary knowledge by practicing unknown words. Each word is stated with a tap of a finger. Learners are able to practice each word as many times as needed. A number based score is displayed as well as a star based score, so younger learners are able to measure their vocabulary knowledge and progress.
Responses and scores are recorded and saved for each English language learner allowing learner's progress to be measured and tracked.
